Hook: Jump straight into the action

I slipped. And fell. My stomach lurched as my harness caught me in my gut. "Owwwww" I moaned. I swung back to the climbing wall and grabbed on. Climb. Slip. "Owwww." Yep, you guessed it. My harness caught me in my gut, once again. 

What I learnt this week: Scale Maps

A scale map is a map with a scale. A scale is something that you can use to compare distances. Here is a scale.

This scale is telling me 5 cm on the map is 1 kilometre in real life.

Concussions

A concussion is a major brain injury. Read Daniel and I's Thinglink to find out about the treatment, what it is, and how to return to physical activity.

Cyber Bullying

This week I have been learning about cyber bullying. Cyber bullying is where somebody says mean things online, or posts embarrassing pictures or videos without permission from the person, and it keeps happening again and again. I have learnt about these definitions.

Target: The person being bullied.

Bully: The person bullying.

Upstander: The person that stands up for the Target.

Bystander: The person who does nothing while the bullying is happening.

Len Lye

The trip to Len Lye was amazingly fantastic. The entrance ceiling is 50 feet high. How do they fit the lights it?

My favourite piece of art was the Universe. It was a big stainless steel loop with a ball hanging from the roof above it. When the electromagnets inside the bench it was on turned on it swayed from side to side and looked like was coming off the bench, but it just stayed on and made a cool noise like an infinite emptiness echo.

Len Lye created amazing 3D sculptures to crazy music, weird films to great drawings. My sister thinks it was boring, but I think he was the greatest artist ever.

St Patrick and the Snakes 

St Patrick was an incredible Irish man, famous for driving snakes out of Ireland. My Doodle is based on his bravery and kindness to the people of Ireland. 

Remainders

This week I have been learning about remainder with division. Remainders are what are left from a question. Eg- 19 / 2 = 19 - 1 = 18 / 2 = 9r1
